There are many types of cotton fabrics, including denim, gauze, lace, chambray, Damascene brocade, which uses satin fabric in its manufacture, making it suitable for curtains and luxury clothes, and finally jersey, which is characterized by its fluidity and unique ability to stretch, which makes it the best for making underwear and sheets. . These different types and unique features made cotton a fabric in great demand, and the economy of many countries depends on it. Its use was not limited to making clothes only, but also household items, tarpaulins, tents, military uniforms, and even astronauts’ clothes on their vehicles.

Many synthetic threads, such as polyester, were introduced into the manufacture of cotton fabrics, and other fabrics were derived from it, giving them durability, strength, and greater resistance to water and wind. But when shopping for clothes that touch and rub with our skin, for example: summer or underwear, especially boxers and flannel, it is important that they are made of natural cotton, because polyester is one of the hot fabrics that prevents the skin from breathing, and thus increases sweating and traps odors. It is easily removed, which makes cleaning it later very difficult, in addition to causing skin allergies for some, unlike original cotton clothes, which are characterized by their softness and high absorption capacity, and they do not cause any type of allergy.

Here are some useful ways to distinguish natural cotton clothing from synthetic clothing:

-When rubbing a piece of cloth until it gets hot, if traces of white lint appear on the piece of cloth, this means that the piece is made from cotton remnants, meaning that it contains a percentage of polyester.

- Fabrics made from original natural cotton will feel soft when rubbed, while those made from a blend of cotton and polyester produce heat that you can feel when rubbed with the palms of your hands.

-If you squeeze the cloth between your fingers and it wrinkles like a piece of paper, then such a cloth is low in cotton, or has no cotton at all, and contains a high percentage of polyester.

Natural cotton clothes can withstand heat, and their size does not change after washing, compared to clothes that use polyester threads in their manufacture, so they shrink under the influence of heat.

Natural cotton, or that hybridized with synthetic fibres, are both important types of fabrics that we mainly rely on in our lives, and they both have a unique benefit and use on which the details of our daily lives are based, but it is necessary to choose what maintains the safety of our skin and brings us comfort and relaxation on hot summer days. Or when shopping for lingerie.
